| Emergency Spill Cleanups On October 23, 2002 in the Property Report section of the Wall Street Journal, an article was printed showing a survey in which 140 companies were asked if they would take risks in purchasing environmentally impacted properties. Those involved in this study were manufacturing, chemical producing, and retail distribution companies. The results indicated that 50% of the companies had already declined to purchase property with environmental damage for fear of being held responsible for the liability. The undercurrent suggested that companies are seeking simple ways to avoid risks all together. In addition it was revealed that over 59% of all failed property transactions were the result of a failure to cover the environmental cleanup costs by either the buyer or the seller of the property. ©2008 Canadian Envirotec Inc. |
